Well, summer’s here. It’s July already. All the activities of recent months (and years for some) have been leading up to this! Plas Heli will be hosting its first sailing championship before the end of the month.

All the builders and contractors have been working full out for weeks to get the building ready to welcome visitors from 37 countries for the European Optimist Championships on July 18th.

The restaurant, cafe and bar which are open to the public and which look out over Glan y Don beach, will open a soon as possible – we have no definite date at present.

On Sunday morning 130 cyclists from all over the UK gathered at Plas Heli in Pwllheli for the inaugural Llŷn Coastal Sportive.

The sun was shining as the cyclist set off on the 50 mile route around the coast of the Llŷn Peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty.  One of the first challenges facing the cyclist was the steep hill at Rhiw on which participants were timed and the fastest man, woman and junior crowned, King, Queen and Junior King/Queen of the Mountain.  Llŷn Coastal Sportive’s inaugural Junior King of the Mountain Rhiryd ab Owain, 17  from Y Ffôr, a member of Dwyfor Cycling Club said: “Today has been a great day, I will defnietly be doing it again next year!”

The work is progressing well for completion in early July
