20 months since first opening its doors, Plas Heli, has lot to be proud of. From hosting International and National Sailing Events, to cultural and social events, Plas Heli is rapidly gaining a reputation as the go to place for Functions and Weddings in the area.
2017 promises to be no different, with many in-house events appealing to a wide audience already confirmed. The 2017 Llŷn Coastal Sportive, to be held on the 8th of April, has already well over 70 entrants, and online registration for the Pwllheli first ever Open Water Triathlon on the 2nd of July, also open. Both these events, have in the past been well-received, and this year is no exception, with local companies such as Harlech Foodservice, Jones o Gymru Crisps, Daffodil Foods and Spar Pwllheli already amongst those offering sponsorship support, of which we are very grateful.
In a bid to appeal to a wider audience, bringing Plas Heli into the community, our monthly Bingo nights and our support of charity events, are something that we are very proud to be involved in. Plas Heli, while a Sailing Academy, is so much more than that, and is a resource for the whole community.
Simon Dennis, Plas Heli CEO said, “We welcome any charity event to Plas Heli to use our facilities, which we feel offers ample room, for any event. With an onsite Bar and Restaurant, our team here at Plas Heli can meet your requirements for any event, whether big or small. From Weddings to Childrens Parties, and all functions in between, the warmest of welcomes expect you at Plas Heli” Nia Griffith, Marketing Officer added, “We are also keen to hold more cultural events at Plas Heli, and as part of our St Davids Day celebrations recently held an evening of Welsh Poetry with Ifor ap Glyn, and an evening of Welsh Comedy with Dilwyn Morgan.”
One of Plas Heli’s developmental objectives over the coming months, is to strengthen links with local business in the town, so that the economic benefit of events held at Plas Heli, can be felt more widely across the whole Peninsula and Gwynedd. As well as the economic benefits, Plas Heli are keen to establish a strongly rooted community network, working with community groups, charities and individuals within the locality, to help us to develop Plas Heli to its full potential. In order to achieve this, open days will be held, as will consultation meetings, with an open invitation for all to attend.
Nia Griffith states, “We are aware that Plas Heli has not yet been formally opened, and the public invited to see the whole building. To rectify this, we will celebrate our second birthday with a festival, including local bands, cooking demonstrations, outdoor activity taster sessions and a day for the whole community to enjoy. As well as being an opportunity to celebrate all that’s been achieved over the last two years, it will also be an opportunity for us to confidently step to the future, and we look forward to sharing that journey with the whole community.”
